Doctor Blades

Doctor blades meter the ink and scrape off the excess: in flexo printing from the anilox roller in a chambered doctor blade system, in gravure from the engraved cylinder. The blade material and edge decide how sharp the print is, whether streaks appear and how much ink is used. Blades come in carbon steel, stainless steel, polymer and composite, with a lamella, bevelled, radius or straight edge. Selection is by material, thickness, width and profile, with rolls in boxes or cut to the customer’s size.
